How to evaluate a business idea before building it
Examine the problem, the alternatives and the practical cost of delivering the promise.

Write the idea as a proposition for one customer group. Explain the problem, the benefit and the reason an existing option falls short. If the description depends on broad words such as better or innovative, replace them with a concrete difference.
Look at current alternatives, including doing nothing. A customer may prefer a familiar workaround because switching takes time or creates risk. Understanding that trade-off helps shape a more realistic first offer.
Estimate the direct costs, the delivery effort and the time between paying suppliers and receiving customer payments. Use ranges when the information is uncertain. Avoid treating the most optimistic scenario as the default forecast.
Test a small commitment before scaling. A paid trial, a detailed proposal request or a scheduled follow-up can be more informative than a large list of casual expressions of interest. Keep a record of what each test does and does not establish.
